Time tracking for home office and hybrid work 2027

The wall-mounted time clock worked for decades because everyone arrived at the same place. Today, a significant portion of teams works from home, under hybrid models, or in the field: sales reps, technicians, supervisors visiting branch offices.
The requirement to electronically record working hours, effective January 1, 2027, does not distinguish where the work is performed. If the employee has a workday, that workday must be recorded.
The challenge of monitoring without invading
Telework already has its own rules in the Federal Labor Law, including the right to disconnect at the end of the workday. A clear record of start and end times helps respect that boundary and prove it was respected. [VALIDATE with Alejandro]
The STPS has not yet published the provisions for electronic time tracking. Specialists anticipate they could include biometric validation and geolocation for remote or field work, but nothing is finalized. Any monitoring measure must handle employee personal data carefully and with their knowledge.
[Signed tracking agreement] ➔ [Clock-in/out from mobile with facial recognition] ➔ [Validated location] ➔ [Workday signed in the file]
How it works with Sora outside the office
Clocking in/out from anywhere: The employee logs their clock-in and clock-out from the Workday app for Android and iOS. If there is no signal, the record is saved and syncs automatically once the connection is restored.
Validated identity: Each clock-in/out goes through facial recognition, even if the employee is miles away from the office.
Validated location: For teams at branch locations or in the field, HR defines geofences per site, and clocking in/out is only allowed within the authorized area. [CONFIRM how it applies to home office]
Signed agreements: The workday tracking agreement and the home office or hybrid work agreement are signed with Cryptographic Signature with Facial Biometrics and live in the same employee file as their workday records.
Clarification on the platform's scope
Sora facilitates the recording and safeguarding of working hours and remote work agreements for internal labor compliance. Sora does not handle procedures before the STPS nor does it define the company's teleworking policies. Each organization decides how its team works. Sora ensures that way of working is documented.
Working away from the office is already standard. Recording those hours with the same certainty as in the office is what's next.
